Chef Kelly Spencer grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and began cooking with her southern grandmothers at a young age, learning that cooking goes hand in hand with gathering people together to either to prepare the meal or eat the food.

Originally on a career path in sales and marketing, Kelly could not ignore her culinary roots and she made her first foray into the industry by founding the Chicago Butter Factory in 2001. After moving to St Louis in 2004, she began formal study of the art of food preparation and earned a degree in Culinary Arts. She founded The Social Affair in August 2009 and today is more passionate than ever about delivering sophisticated food presented in a unique way and bringing people together to create lasting memories.
